How many people can share a room in Dubai?

How many people can share a room depends on its size: shared housing bedrooms need at least 5 m² per person, so a 10 m² room holds two.

The short answer

The DM circular (reported by Khaleej Times on 8 October 2026) sets a minimum bedroom area of 5 m² per person in shared housing. Divide the bedroom area by five to get the maximum number of people: 10 m² for two, 15 m² for three, 20 m² for four. The property also needs the kitchen, bathroom, dining, recreation and laundry facilities, a permit and DCD approval.
