Shared Housing · Questions

How many people can live in a 2-bedroom apartment in Dubai?

In a 2-bedroom apartment used as shared housing, add both bedrooms at 5 m² per person: two 12 m² bedrooms hold four people.

The short answer

Each bedroom in shared housing needs at least 5 m² per person under the DM rules (Dubai Municipality circular, reported by Khaleej Times on 8 October 2026). In a 2-bedroom apartment with a 15 m² and a 12 m² bedroom, that is three plus two, five people. The apartment also needs the required facilities, must be in an allowed area, and needs DCD approval and the DM permit.
