Tilal Al Ghaf neighbour complaint: what MAF checks
Tilal Al Ghaf neighbour complaint: MAF checks your works against the NOC, the working hours and the guidelines, including that nothing blocks the neighbour's view or is fixed to the shared wall. Approved works continue; unapproved works need the NOC first. We help either way.
The short answer
When a neighbour complains about works in Tilal Al Ghaf, MAF community management checks them against your NOC and the Home Improvement Guidelines. Approved works must keep to the NOC, the 9am to 5pm working hours on working days, and the NOC must be posted on the front door or wall. Extensions and balcony enclosures must not block the neighbour's view, and pergolas must stay 80 cm from the shared boundary wall. Unapproved works need the NOC, and may need changes.

Questions
Tilal Al Ghaf neighbour complaint questions
What if my neighbour complains about my renovation in Tilal Al Ghaf?
MAF reviews the complaint against your NOC. If your works are approved, follow the NOC, the working hours and the guidelines. If they are not approved, apply for the NOC and correct anything outside the guidelines.
What are neighbours usually allowed to complain about?
Works without an NOC, works outside 9am to 5pm or on weekends and public holidays, debris, structures that block their view, and anything attached to the shared boundary wall.
Can my works block my neighbour's view?
No. The MAF guidelines say extensions and balcony enclosures must not obstruct the neighbour's view.
Can I attach a pergola to our shared boundary wall?
No. Pergolas must not be attached to the boundary wall and must be at least 80 cm from it. Gazebos and freestanding awnings also keep 80 cm.
My neighbour's works affect me. What can I do?
Ask to see their MAF NOC, which must be posted on their front door or wall during the works, and report concerns to MAF community management.
Does my neighbour need to agree to my works?
MAF decides, not the neighbour. But works must not obstruct the neighbour's view, and changes to shared walls are checked closely.
When can the works be done?
Between 9am and 5pm, not on weekends or public holidays. A copy of the MAF NOC must be posted on the front door or wall, and your contractor needs a contractor access permit from the Belong app.
What do you need from me to start?
Photos, your title deed, the sub-community and home type, and any plans from your handover documents. We tell you what the MAF Home Improvement Guidelines allow and what is needed.
