Structural assessment

What does a structural engineer check in a villa?

The engineer checks the visible structure (columns, beams, slabs and walls) for cracks, deflection, corrosion and moisture damage, compares the villa with the approved drawings, and reports on its condition and any unapproved changes.

The short answer

A structural inspection looks at how the villa is carrying its loads today. The engineer walks through every floor, the roof and the outside, checks the condition of concrete and steel, looks for signs of movement or water damage, and notes extensions or changes not on the drawings. The result is a report with findings and recommendations.
