Dubai Civil Defence · Mall fit-out

DCD approval for mall fit-outs in Dubai.

Fire and life safety drawings, DCD submission, final inspection and the completion certificate for mall fit-outs in Dubai, handled by our engineers as consultant.

Does a mall fit-out need DCD approval?

Yes. Every commercial fit-out change, including partitions, ceilings and any decoration update, needs Dubai Civil Defence (DCD) approval, a DCD final inspection and a completion certificate before the unit opens. Structural Solutions prepares the fire and life safety drawings and submits them to DCD as consultant. In malls, the mall approves the stamped drawings first; some malls also need an authority permit, such as DDA for Dubai Hills Mall or Trakhees for Nakheel malls and Atlantis. If LPG or gas is used, the approved LPG or gas provider needs its own approval; with electric cooking, an undertaking letter is submitted to DCD instead.
