Does a shop or restaurant using LPG need separate approval?
Yes. The approved LPG or gas provider needs its own approval; with electric cooking, an undertaking letter is submitted instead.
The short answer
Yes. When a shop, cafe or restaurant uses LPG or gas, the approved LPG or gas provider, or the service provider of the outlet, needs its own separate approval. If the outlet cooks with electricity only, an undertaking letter is submitted to Dubai Civil Defence (DCD) instead. The fit-out itself still needs DCD approval and a final inspection. Structural Solutions submits the fit-out to DCD as consultant and coordinates with the gas provider.
