Approvals in Dubai

How do I get approval for building works in Dubai?

Find which authority covers your area, get the developer NOC if your community has a developer, then an approved consultant submits drawings and stamped calculations to the authority. After the works, the authority inspects and issues the completion certificate.

The short answer

Most building works in Dubai need two layers of approval. First the developer or building management NOC, where the community has one. Then the building permit from the authority for the area: Dubai Municipality, DDA, Trakhees, DMCC via Concordia or the DSO Authority. Submissions must be made by an approved consultant. Some works also need DCD, the DM pool environmental NOC, DM Food Safety, DEWA, RTA or DHA.
